Cassandra

My name is Cassandra Walker, but that changed after my marriage. I am now known as Cassandra Adams. I'm currently 20 years old and happily married to Wesley Adams, one of the most eligible bachelors in New York. Wesley, who is 23 years old, is not only the owner of top companies worldwide, but he also built them through his hard work and in collaboration with his father's businesses.

Let me share the story of how we first met.

FLASHBACK

Our story begins at college. Wesley was in his final year, while I was just a firstyear student. Although we had crossed paths a couple of times, it was one incident that changed everything.

Wesley emerged as a true gentleman and my savior. One day, while I was crossing the road to reach college, a car suddenly appeared, speeding towards me. Frozen in shock, I found myself unable to move despite having checked the road before crossing.

Out of nowhere, someone pushed me to the side of the road. Thankfully, I only ended up with a scraped elbow. When I turned around to thank my rescuer, I was surprised to see Wesley Adams dusting off his jeans.

We had never interacted before, so his presence shocked me.

Despite my insistence that I was fine, he insisted on taking me to a nearby clinic to get my elbow checked. I stood there quietly, not knowing what to say or do. It felt incredibly awkward for me, as the person who had saved me was none other than Wesley, the crush of the entire college. Any girl would have envied my situation.

After the doctor confirmed that my elbow was fine, he dropped me off at home and asked for my number. From that point on, we became close friends. After months of friendship, he asked me out. Despite being aware of his reputation as a playboy, I accepted his proposal. Deep down, I knew that I had developed feelings for him. It felt like love at first sight.

Our first date was incredibly romantic, and by the end of the day, Wesley asked me to be his girlfriend. It felt like a dream come true, and without hesitation, I replied with a resounding yes. It was an unforgettable day that marked the beginning of my love for him, which grew stronger with each passing day. I could sense that our feelings for each other were mutual.

Around a month after our first date, Wesley graduated and joined his father's company, while I continued to navigate my first year of college. Despite our different circumstances, we had no trouble finding time to be together.

We made it a point to go on dates every weekend. Wesley was everything I had ever wanted: sweet, caring, and gentle. I gradually fell deeper in love with him.

He was the first to express his love, as I was initially hesitant to admit my feelings, fearing rejection. The day he confessed his love for me, I felt like the happiest woman alive.

After a year of dating, he surprised me with a proposal. It took a few moments for it to sink in, but when it did, tears welled up in my eyes, and I joyfully said yes. It was one of the most special days of my life. Wesley made my life beautiful. However, he didn't want a long engagement, so we decided to get married just two weeks later. I knew it seemed rushed, but as Selena Gomez once said, "the heart wants what it wants." We had a grand wedding, with thousands of guests in attendance.

The venue was stunning, almost magical, adorned with a color theme of Ivory and Maroon. I wore a beautiful white offshoulder gown with a sweeDanicart neckline, adorned with lace sleeves. The back of the gown featured a corset style, and a long train trailed behind me. I felt absolutely gorgeous in it. Seeing Wesley waiting for me at the end of the aisle felt like a dream come true.

We are incredibly happy with the way our lives have unfolded, and we hope to have children in the future.

END OF FLASHBACK

It has been two years since we got married, and I still can't believe how quickly time has flown by. Wesley has always been a tender, sweet, romantic, and caring husband to me. The spark between us is still very much alive. This is everything I have ever dreamt of, and now all I desire is to welcome a baby into our lives.

Cassandra

I wake up to find my handsome husband lying beside me, and a smile naturally spreads across my face. I lean in and give him a gentle kiss on the cheek. The words of love he expressed during our intimate moments last night still resonate with me, and it fills my heart with joy to know that his feelings for me haven't wavered.

As I sit up, I spot my clothes and quickly dress before heading to the bathroom. After a refreshing tenminute shower, I toweldry my body and make my way to our walkin closet to choose today's outfit. Opting for comfort, I settle on black leggings and a white shirt. I let my hair down and allow it to air dry naturally.

With a glance at the time, I realize I still have ample time to prepare breakfast for Wesley. Trying not to disturb his rest, I tiptoe towards the door, mindful of his possible fatigue from the previous day. I quietly make my way downstairs and enter the kitchen.

Knowing his fondness for pancakes, I decide to surprise him with his favorite breakfast. Although he wasn't particularly keen on pancakes in the past, he fell in love with my version when he first tasted them. I swiftly whip up the pancakes, mindful that he may already be awake and preparing for work. Within a few minutes, the pancakes are ready, and I place them on the table, accompanied by his preferred toppings: chocolate syrup, honey, and whipped cream.

I wait eagerly at the table, and soon enough, I catch sight of Wesley walking down the street, looking impeccably handsome in his Armani attire. "Hey, baby. Good morning," I greet him warmly, approaching him and planting a sweet kiss on his lips. I can't help but smile like a lovestruck fool when I look at him; he has that effect on me. Who wouldn't feel this way? He's incredibly attractive, and he's my husband.

"I already made you pancakes. Let's have breakfast," I say, taking his hand. But to my surprise, he withdraws his hand. Confused, I look at him quizzically. It's rare for him to refuse to share breakfast with me.

"I need to hurry. I have a meeting in 30 minutes," he responds, adjusting his watch. Disappointed, I continue to look at him, captivated by his presence. "Can't you at least have a bite? They're your favorite pancakes," I say in a soft tone, hoping he'll agree to enjoy breakfast together, even if it's just for a moment.

"I never asked you to make them. You can't blame me," he states bluntly. I'm taken aback by his words. He has never turned down my pancakes before, and his sudden harshness leaves me wondering if I unintentionally did something wrong last night. I can't recall anything. Perhaps he truly needs to rush for his meeting.

"But"

"Oh, before I forget, I'm leaving for London this evening for a few days. I don't know when I'll be back. So, I really need to go now," he interrupts, getting into his car and driving away before I can respond.

I stand there, watching his car slowly disappear into the distance. I sigh and hold back my tears. He's going to be away in London for a few days, which means we won't have breakfast together during that time.

What worries me is that he didn't bring any suitcases or personal belongings; he only had his bag for files. I know he is welloff, but it still seems wasteful to buy new clothes for every business trip when he already has plenty.

I step inside the house and make my way to the dining room, where I find the array of pancakes on the table. Taking a seat, I begin to eat, indulging in the sweet flavors.

Bite after bite, I consume the pancakes, trying to distract myself from the lingering thoughts about Wesley's sudden departure. Perhaps he's simply overwhelmed with work. I can't fault him for that; after all, he is a busy businessman.

I remind myself that I need to understand his work and be prepared for the consequences, as I willingly chose to be a part of his life.

Letting out a sigh, my phone suddenly rings, and I glance at the caller ID, a smile forming on my lips. It's my best friend, Danica Russell.

"Hey, girl," I answer cheerfully.

"Hey, um, can you please open the door right now?" Danica's request raises my eyebrows in curiosity.

"Where are you?" I inquire, wondering why she's calling me just to have me open the door.

"I'm right in front of your house, to be exact, standing at your doorstep." I immediately rise from my seat and head toward the door. Opening it, I find Danica standing there with a grin. I end the call and face her.

"Why didn't you just ring the bell?" I ask, puzzled by her behavior.

"Because I didn't want to run into your husband, obviously. It would ruin my entire day," she replies casually, joining me as we return to the dining room.

Ah, Danica and her disdain for Wesley. I've never quite understood why. Whenever they cross paths, they inevitably end up arguing over something trivial. Their personalities just don't seem to mesh well.

Most best friends would be thrilled for their friend's marriage, but not Danica. She has never approved of Wesley, ever since I introduced them. It's a strange dynamic. She's always preaching about the importance of mental and physical strength.

I know she cares about me deeply, and I love her just as much. She's like a sister to me, always there through thick and thin, and I know she only wants the best for me.

"I still can't understand why you don't like him," I say, taking a sip of my orange juice.

"Cassandra, I just... You know, I can't shake the feeling that he's not the right one for you," Danica responds.

"Danica, Wesley and I have been happily married for two years now. We're both content with our lives. Why can't you be happy for me? You're my best friend," I express, a hint of frustration in my voice. She sighs and meets my gaze.

"I'm sorry, Cassandra. It's not that I don't want you to be happy. I just have this gut feeling that he's not the one for you," she explains, her voice filled with concern. Confusion settles in, and I furrow my eyebrows.

"What do you mean he's not the one for me?" I inquire, seeking clarification.

"Cassandra, all this time, Wesley has been cheating on you behind your back," Danica reveals. Shock courses through me at her words.

"Danica! Why would you say such a thing? Wesley loves me, and he told me so just last night," I retort, my anger rising within me.

"I'm not lying. I saw it with my own eyes. Please believe me. He's not a good man. I saw him with another woman in his car when I was at the mall. It happened on multiple occasions," Danica insists, her tone pleading. Disbelief washes over me. How could she accuse my husband like this?

"I can't believe you, Danica. You're my one and only best friend. How can you make such accusations against my husband? Why can't you accept that I'm his wife? I didn't ask for anything except for your happiness and support. Is that too much to ask?" I explode in anger, and Danica looks at me, hurt evident in her eyes.

"Cassandra, I'm being serious. I swear to you that I'm not lying. I saw him, and it's not the first time I've witnessed him with another woman. I even saw him entering a hotel with someone else. Please, believe me," she pleads, grasping my hands. My emotions are a whirlwind, torn between loyalty to my husband and trust in my best friend.

"I don't want to hear anything more from you right now. I need you to leave my house immediately," I assert, my anger intensifying.

"Ale"

"OUT!" I yell, cutting her off.

"Fine. But I will find a way to prove to you that everything I've said is true," she declares resolutely, before storming out, slamming the door behind her. I close my eyes and slump into the chair, resting my head on the table.

How could my best friend act this way? I can't believe it. How can she accuse Wesley of cheating on me? There's no way he could be seeing another woman. He professed his love for me just last night, and that's proof enough for me. He would never betray me. I think Danica must have mistaken my husband for someone else. I trust Wesley completely.

I'm pregnant. The pregnancy test confirmed it. I'm still in disbelief as I look at the positive result. I took the test this morning, and all three attempts yielded the same result. Wesley and I are going to be parents. Oh my God! I can hardly contain my excitement to share this news with him when he returns. I can only imagine his priceless reaction. We've been eagerly awaiting this moment, and it feels like a blessing from above.

My life feels even more complete now. We're finally going to be parents! A joyful smile adorns my face as I leave the bathroom and make my way to bed. I reach for my phone, eager to call Wesley and discuss his expected arrival time. I want to start making preparations before he comes back. I press the call button and eagerly await his answer. It goes to voicemail. I furrow my brow in disappointment but persist in calling.

Voicemail again.

Again.

And again...

After four attempts, he finally picks up. "What?" his voice sounded rushed. Nonetheless, a surge of happiness fills me upon hearing his voice.

"Hey, baby, I miss you so much. It's been one week since you went to London," I say with a loving tone.

"What do you want?" he asks abruptly, his voice indicating his hurry.

"I just miss you, Wesley, and I wanted to ask when you'll be coming back," I inquire, my heart slightly aching at his lack of concern for my wellbeing.

"Hmm, okay. I don't know, maybe next week or next month. Don't wait for me. I have to go," he replies before abruptly ending the call. Perhaps he's in a rush for his meeting. I can't hold his dedication to his work against him. He works hard for our family, and it's important for me to understand and support him.

I pat my growing belly lovingly. "It's alright, baby; I'll figure out the best way to share the news with your father," I murmur, a smile gracing my face. Suddenly, the doorbell rings, interrupting my thoughts. I quickly stand up and make my way downstairs to see who it is. Opening the door, I find Danica standing there, a warm smile adorning her face.

"Hey, Cassandra," she greets me. "Hi," I respond, feeling a mixture of relief and apprehension. It has been a week since our last conversation.

"Are you not going to invite me in?" she asks playfully, and I step aside, welcoming her into the house. We walk together to the living room and settle onto the couch.

"Well... I know you're still upset with me. So I'm here to apologize. I shouldn't have said those things about your husband. I'm truly sorry," Danica speaks with genuine remorse, and I rise from my seat to join her on the couch.

"You know, I'm sorry too for kicking you out like that," I admit, and she pulls me into a tight hug. I reciprocate, realizing how much I've missed her during our time apart.

"It's been tough not being able to talk to you for a whole week. You're my one and only best friend," she confesses after we part from the embrace. A smile forms on my lips.

"I have something important to share with you," I announce, knowing she would want to be part of this moment.

"What is it?" she eagerly asks, her excitement palpable. "Okay... but promise not to freak out," I tease playfully.

"Okay, okay, just spill it," she urges, her anticipation building. "Cassandra, hurry up!"

"Alright, I'm pregnant," I reveal, and her eyes widen in surprise before a massive smile spreads across her face.

"Arghhhh! Oh my God! I'm going to be an aunt! OMG! OMG!" she exclaims, unable to contain her excitement. I chuckle, thoroughly entertained by her reaction. Seeing her like this, I can't help but wonder how Wesley will respond to the news.

"I told you not to freak out, girl."

"How can I not? You're pregnant!" she exclaims, her joy radiating through her.

"When did you find out?" she asks, her curiosity evident.

"Just this morning," I reply, and she pulls me into another hug, beaming. "I'm so happy for you, Cassandra. Truly."

Just then, her phone rings, interrupting our conversation. She excuses herself and heads to the kitchen to answer the call. It must be important, which is why she wants to keep it private. After a few minutes, she returns, wearing a smile.

"Sorry for taking a while. It was an important call," she explains, resuming her seat beside me.

"No worries. So, who was it? Your boyfriend?" I tease, raising an eyebrow playfully.

"Ew, I don't think like that, okay? Don't even suggest it," I retort playfully as Danica suggests having lunch at a hotel. "We can just go to one of our favorite restaurants for lunch. Let's not spend too much money, Danica."

"Oh, Cassandra, you're no fun. We have to celebrate the fact that you're pregnant. Let's go," she insists, and I raise an eyebrow at her. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?" she adds. "Come on, let's go!"

"Alright, let me change my clothes," I concede. Danica nods, and I head upstairs to change.

I opt for baby blue jeans, a white shirt, and a nude pink cardigan. For my hair, I simply let it flow down naturally, combing it to ensure it looks neat. A touch of mascara and lipstick complete my minimal makeup look. I spritz on some perfume, grab my handbag, and slip on my creamcolored pumps. I'm ready to go.

As I descend the stairs, I find Danica already waiting at the door. "Let's go," she says, opening the door, and we walk towards her car. On the way, we engage in conversation, relishing the joy of spending time together as best friends. After a short while, we reach the hotel where we plan to have lunch.

"Cassandra, why don't we stay here for one or maybe two days?" Danica suggests as we enter the hotel.

"That's quite spontaneous, Danica. We don't have any spare clothes," I reply, voicing my concerns, to which she chuckles.

"Pleaseeee... I want to hang out with you. We can buy new clothes or even wear the same clothes for 24 hours. Come on, it's not like we haven't done it before," she pleads.

"You know I can't say no to you when you do that. Fine..." I give in, surrendering to her persuasive powers.

"Yes! Thank you," she exclaims, wrapping her arms around my neck, causing me to choke.

"Danica, let me go," I manage to say, and she immediately releases her hold, allowing me to catch my breath. "Oops, sorry, hehe," she giggles, linking arms with me as we head towards the reception area.

Chapter 5 Preview

"Hello, welcome, miss," the receptionist greets us with a warm smile. I remain silent, letting Danica handle the checkin process.

"Oh, Ms. Russell. Your room is 368 on the 10th floor," the receptionist informs us. I glance at Danica, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

"Thank you," Danica acknowledges the receptionist's assistance before guiding me towards the elevator. "Wow, you already booked the room for us?" I inquire, and she simply smiles back at me.

"Cassandra, I'm sorry to dampen the mood, but I need to do this," she says as we step into the elevator. "Why are you saying that? Is something wrong?" I ask, concern evident in my voice. She shakes her head.

"You're my best friend, and I want you to be happy. That's all," she explains, and I remain silent, waiting until we arrive on the 10th floor.

Ding!

We walk side by side until we reach the door marked 368. Danica hands me the card, but before I open it, she speaks up. "Before you see what's inside, I want you to know that I did all of this because I don't want you to continue living like this. You'll understand once you see."

Confused by her cryptic words, I swipe the card and open the door. As I step inside, my eyes widen in disbelief, and my heart shatters into a million pieces. Before me stands Wesley, shirtless, with a woman who appears to be unclothed beneath him. I glance at Danica, but she avoids my gaze, facing the wall instead. I'm at a loss for words; it's all so unbelievable.

"Wesley!" I find myself shouting his name, my vision blurred by tears. He initially looks shocked, but his expression quickly turns cold. He rises and stands before me, while the woman beside him hastily covers herself with a blanket.

"I thought you were in London," I managed to utter, my voice trembling.

"You see me standing right here before you," he replies, devoid of any guilt.

"Why? Why are you doing this to me?" I ask, my tears flowing freely down my cheeks.

"Want to know why? Because I don't love you anymore. I feel like this marriage was the biggest mistake of my life. I thought, 'Why should I be tied down so early when I can still enjoy myself with another woman?'" he coldly explains. Enraged, I slapped him across the face. He appears taken aback, and anger fills his eyes.

"Living with you was a mistake, you know that? Pack your things and leave our house. Don't ever think of coming back because my lawyer will serve you with divorce papers," he declares, his words leaving me speechless and shocked.

"No. No, you can't do this to me. I love you with all my heart, Wesley. Besides, I'm..." I start to speak, my voice breaking.

"I don't care. Just disappear from my life. I want to be free and enjoy myself," he interrupts callously. The woman beside him smirks at me, fueling my anger and desire to slap her and pull her hair. But Wesley stops me.

"Cassandra! You're no longer my wife. Both you and your pathetic friend can disappear from my sight because I never want to see your face again," he coldly tells me. I stare at him, hoping this is all a nightmare, but it's painfully real. I slapped him once more.

"You'll regret this, Wesley. Sooner or later, you'll regret it. I'm certain of that," I warn him, but his face shows only anger from being slapped twice.

Danica pulls me away from the room, guiding me home to pack my belongings. "Danica, why did he do this to me? I haven't done anything wrong. I love him, Danica," I sob uncontrollably. She wraps her arms around me in a comforting embrace.

"I know, Cassandra. I know how much you love him. And now you're pregnant with his child. We'll figure this out. I promise," she reassures me, as we both break down in tears.

"I'm so sorry, Cassandra. I had to reveal your husband's true colors. Well, now he's your exhusband. I don't want you to stay like this. Remember, you have your child and me. I'm your best friend, and I won't leave you alone." I wipe away my tears and look at her, determined.

When we arrive home, I head straight to the room to pack my clothes. I only take my own belongings, leaving behind anything that Wesley bought for me. As I continue packing, the doorbell rings. Danica goes downstairs to see who it is while I focus on gathering my things.

"Cassandra..." Danica's voice catches my attention, and I turn to see her accompanied by a man. I assume he's the lawyer Wesley mentioned.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Adams. I'm Harold. Mr. Adams's lawyer. We're here to give you this," he says, handing me a file. I know exactly what it is.

"I'm no longer Mrs. Adams. You can call me Cassandra," I state firmly. Harold nods, and I open the file to find that Wesley has already signed his part, indicating that he had planned to divorce me beforehand. This is the end. My onceperfect life is shattered. These memories may fade away like bubbles in the sea. Summoning all my strength, I sign the papers and hand them back to Harold.

"Thank you, Cassandra. I will take my leave now," he says before exiting the house, leaving me feeling deflated, collapsing onto the floor.

Danica rushes to my side, helping me stand. "Danica, my life is in ruins," I cry, and she gently pats my back, soothing me. "You have to be strong. We can start a new life, just the three of us: you, me, and your child." I look at her, and she offers me a reassuring smile. I struggle to find the right words, but perhaps Danica is right. Wesley was not the right person for me. I must gather strength for this baby who is innocent and has done nothing wrong.

Together, we finish packing, and finally, we're ready to leave. Before stepping out, I glance around the room one last time, leaving my wedding ring on the table as a symbol of closure. I walk out of the house, determination in my heart. I have to be strong; I still have my child to protect. That's what I remind myself.

"Cassandra, I've already booked our tickets for Los Angeles. We're leaving tonight. Are you okay with that?" I'm too drained to speak, so I simply nod in response.

I must build a new life for myself and my child. Goodbye, Wesley. I'll do as you say and never show my face to you again. After all of this, I will never want you back.

Chapter 6 Preview

Wesley

I'm getting ready for work right now. I check my appearance in the mirror, ensuring I look presentable. After my divorce with Cassandra, I decided to hire a maid named Felicity. With the absence of someone to take care of the house, I realized the need for assistance. I called Felicity, who answered after one ring.

"Felicity, when you arrive, please remove all of Cassandra's clothes from my closet. You can dispose of them or keep them for yourself if you'd like. That will be all," I inform her before ending the call.

I want to remove any remnants of our past and move forward. Now that I'm single, I have the freedom to pursue relationships without any constraints. Being committed was enjoyable, but I easily grew bored.

As for my relationship with Cassandra, I surprised myself by remaining faithful to one woman for nearly three years. While she brought fun into my life, seeing her face every day occasionally became monotonous.

I crave new experiences and the excitement of having different women by my side. At my age, I want to enjoy life to the fullest.

I leave the house and enter my black Jaguar. Driving to my company, I hand the car keys to my chauffeur and make my way inside. Accustomed to being the center of attention, I head straight to my private elevator, avoiding crowded spaces. It's important for me to assert my authority and receive the respect I deserve.

"Good morning, Mr. Adams. They are already waiting for you in the meeting room, sir," my secretary informs me, and I nod in acknowledgment before proceeding to the meeting room. Morning meetings are not my favorite, but they are a necessary part of running the company. Upon entering the room, everyone rises to show their respect. It's not a board meeting, just a gathering of managers. We promptly commence the meeting once I take my seat.

The meeting lasts for about two hours, and now I find myself in my office, attending to my work. Thankfully, my next meeting is in three hours. I review the files for my new project in Milan, focusing on the tasks at hand. Suddenly, my office door opens, and instead of being annoyed at an interruption, I am pleasantly surprised to see my best friend, Vincent Davis, walking in and taking a seat on the couch.

"What brings you here?" I ask, curiosity in my voice. Vincent and I have been best friends since high school. While I used to have a large circle of friends, most distanced themselves due to my arrogant and egoistic behavior. Vincent, however, remained by my side and tolerated my attitude throughout the years.

"Why don't we go out and have a good time tonight? It's been a while, man," Vincent suggests, and I set my pen down before moving to the couch opposite him.

"I'm not in the mood, Vincent. I have a lot of work to catch up on, and I'm really exhausted. All I want is to rest tonight," I reply, leaning my head back against the couch and closing my eyes.

"Really? Or is it because you regret divorcing Cassandra? Who knows... Ha!" I remain silent, refusing to engage. "You still love her, don't you? Well, of course you do. I don't understand why you cheated on her and let her go. She's gorgeous and amazing. If I were you, I wouldn't have let her slip away," he adds.

"You better watch your mouth before I shut it for you," I warn, hearing him laugh. My eyes are still closed.

"You know what? Sometimes you can be incredibly foolish. So foolish that it's hard to comprehend. This has to be the dumbest thing you've ever done, bro. But hey, I'm not here to lecture you. I just wanted to invite you to the club, that's all. If you're not ready to move on, then fine, I get it," he says, and I open my eyes at his words.

"I want to enjoy my life, Vincent, and I believe I made the right decision. It may seem unconventional, but I'm happier now. More than ever before. Alright, I'll come tonight. Just text me the details," I respond, and he smirks. It's a good thing he's my friend, or else I might have already thrown a punch his way.

I'm on my way to the club Vincent texted me about. It feels like the first step into my new life as a single person. I've chosen to wear black jeans and a white shirt for the occasion. The club isn't too far from my house, only about a 10minute drive. I may be driving a bit faster than usual, but can you blame me? This car has a way of making me speed up.

Once I arrive, I park my car in the VIP section and make my way inside. The guards recognize me immediately, granting me easy access. It's one of the perks of being wealthy and wellknown. As I scan the crowd, searching for Vincent, I spot him surrounded by two girls. He wastes no time when it comes to attracting female attention.

Suddenly, a girl wraps her arms around my neck, catching my attention. I smirk in response, and she returns it with a seductive smile. We make our way to the dance floor, moving together in sync. I hold her waist and plant kisses on her neck, eliciting a pleasurable moan from her. Tonight is shaping up to be quite entertaining.

"Let's find somewhere more private," she suggests, and I lead her out of the crowded club. We head towards the nearest hotel. Usually, I wouldn't leave the club this quickly, but tonight seems to be an exception.

Once we're inside the hotel room, I waste no time in kissing her lips passionately. She reciprocates eagerly. My hands begin to explore her body, and her moans fill the room. Soon enough, we find ourselves on the bed. I've discarded my shirt, and she's still in her undergarments. It doesn't take long before both of us are fully naked, giving in to our desires.

The next morning, I woke up to find a woman sleeping beside me. I couldn't help but smirk at the familiar scenario. I quietly made my way to the bathroom, taking a quick shower to freshen up. After dressing in my clothes, I grabbed my phone, wallet, and keys. Before leaving the room, I left some money on the nightstand, considering it a gesture of courtesy. Then, I exited the room.

In the hallway, I patiently waited for the elevator and pressed the button for the ground floor as soon as it arrived. "Yes, sir," my secretary answered when I called.

"Willow, I'll be arriving after lunch, or perhaps a little later. Please reschedule my appointments accordingly," I informed her.

"Understood, sir. Is there anything else I can assist you with?" she inquired.

"No, that will be all," I replied before ending the call.

I made my way to the car and drove home, feeling a sense of discomfort in my body. Upon reaching my residence, I unlocked the door and headed straight upstairs.

Taking another shower helped alleviate some of the uneasiness I felt. After a brief tenminute shower, I emerged from the bathroom, towel wrapped around my waist. Glancing around the room, I noticed the photos of Cassandra and me hanging on the wall. It served as a reminder that I needed to move out of this house as soon as possible.

Perhaps I would start searching for a new place tomorrow. Living in a home filled with memories was proving to be challenging. While the memories with Cassandra were mostly pleasant, I didn't want to carry the weight of blame in our failed relationship. I refused to burden myself with unnecessary guilt.

Walking into my walkin closet, I donned my suit and took a moment to adjust my appearance. Checking my watch, I realized I needed to hurry to avoid being late. I made my way to the car and drove to my company, determined to focus on my professional responsibilities.

Three years later,

"Ms. Walker." I glanced up to find my secretary, Hera, standing before me.

"Yes? What is it?" I replied with a smile.

"Actually, you have a meeting right now, and everyone is waiting for you," she informed me. My eyes widened in realization as I had completely forgotten about the meeting.

"Oh my, how could I forget? Let's go immediately," I said, quickly grabbing my phone and the necessary files for the meeting. Hera and I made our way to the meeting room, where everyone was already assembled. "I apologize for my tardiness. Shall we begin?" I asked, hoping to make up for my delay. With that, the meeting commenced. Lately, my schedule had been extremely busy, and I hadn't been taking proper breaks or eating well. I knew I needed some rest after this.

As you may know, I now have my own boutique. I ventured into starting my own company as a fashion designer, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I currently have nearly five boutiques, with locations in London, Milan, and three in Los Angeles, where my dreams first took flight. I began my new life there with the money I saved from my parttime job, and now my business is flourishing.

Danica has been instrumental in this journey, as we coown the boutique together. With my background in fashion and design from university, I seized the opportunity to launch my own clothing line.

It all started with a small shop, but soon we began receiving numerous requests to open additional boutiques. Danica and I worked tirelessly to earn enough money for our first boutique. We faced challenges initially, but as months went by, things started to improve. Our hard work paid off, and I am now reaping the rewards. My life has undergone significant positive changes.

The meeting revolved around the launch of my new branch in Brooklyn, New York. The grand opening is scheduled in three days, and I can't help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

The moment I opened the door, my adorable twins, Finley and Lindsey, ran towards me and hugged my feet. Yes, you heard it right I am a proud mother of twins. They have been the source of immense joy in my life. Danica, my best friend, has been my pillar of support throughout this journey. She currently resides in Paris, pursuing her dream as an interior designer. Although it was tough to be apart after everything we went through, I knew it was important for her to follow her passion.

"Hello, my loves." I embraced both of them tightly and planted kisses on their cheeks. Placing my handbag on the table, we walked together to the living room. "So, tell me, what do you want to do today?" I asked, curious about their plans.

"We want to eat!" Finley and Lindsey chimed in unison, making me burst into laughter at their adorable synchrony.

"Is that all?" I playfully teased them.

"We also want to play, sleep, and eat," Finley replied with a mischievous grin. Just then, Riley, the nanny I hired to assist with their care, entered the room. "Oh, hi, Riley," I greeted her warmly, and she responded with a smile.

"Ma'am, I haven't bathed them yet. May I take them to shower?" Riley asked.

"If that's the case, it's fine. Besides, I planned to take them to the playground later, so they might need to shower again if they do it now," I explained, and Finley and Lindsey nodded enthusiastically. "Are you both excited?" They eagerly nodded their heads.

"Riley, I'll go change my clothes first. Please get the kids ready," I instructed. With a nod, I made my way to my room. Opting for a casual outfit, I styled my hair in a low bun before heading back to the living room. I waited there as the sound of their little footsteps echoed down the stairs. "Mommy, let's go!" they exclaimed in unison, their faces beaming with excitement.

"Riley, you can head home now. I can handle things from here. Thank you for your help today," I said appreciatively. She nodded, grabbed her bag, and prepared to leave.

"Finley and Lindsey, don't run. Oh my gosh," I said with a shake of my head, watching their energetic play on the playground while I sat on one of the nearby benches. A smile formed on my face as I observed their adorable antics.

Finley with his dark brown hair and brown eyes, and Lindsey with her light brown hair and matching brown eyes. They resembled him so much, and despite everything, I couldn't help but think of him.

The memory of when he heartlessly cast me aside like a stray dog will forever remain etched in my mind.

Suddenly, my phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. Retrieving it from my pocket, I answered the call. After a brief conversation, I ended the call and glanced towards the playground to check on Finley and Lindsey. However, to my alarm, they were nowhere to be seen. Panic coursed through me, and I swiftly stood up, scanning the area. "Finley! Lindsey!" I called out desperately, but they didn't respond.

I searched the entire park, my anxiety escalating with each passing second. Tears welled up uncontrollably, and I couldn't bear the thought of them being lost. I needed to find them. Praying for divine assistance, I wiped my tears and cast another look towards the playground. They were my whole world, and now they were missing from that very spot. Where could they be? I frantically scanned the playground, tears streaming down my cheeks.

And then, I spotted them sitting at one of the tables near the playground, happily enjoying their ice cream. Relief washed over me, and I raced towards them, my heart still pounding. Sitting down beside Lindsey, I took a deep breath, wiping away my tears as I looked at them.

"Where did you two go? You almost gave me a heart attack," I exclaimed, my voice trembling with a mixture of fear and relief. Both of them simply grinned at me with their innocent faces. "Who gave you the ice cream?" I inquired.

"A kind uncle," Finley responded nonchalantly, continuing to enjoy his treat.

"A kind uncle? Who is that? Finley, why didn't you tell me? What if he was a stranger with bad intentions? You could have been taken to an unknown place, and I might never have seen you again.

It's not safe to follow someone you don't know, even if they offer candy or ice cream. Do you understand?" I scolded, my worry evident. They both nodded their heads, still engrossed in their ice cream.

I let out a sigh, realizing my own responsibility in the situation. I should have been more attentive, not allowing them to play unattended while I was distracted by my phone.

"No, mommy, he's good. Sowwy, mommy," Lindsey pleaded, her innocent eyes melting my heart. This little one knows just how to tug at my emotions. However, it still leaves me feeling like a failure as a mother for not being able to protect them.

"Alright, this time I forgive both of you, but promise me you'll never follow a stranger again, okay? It's incredibly dangerous. Listen to mommy, it's really dangerous," I reiterated, trying to emphasize the importance of their safety. They nodded in understanding.

"After this, both of you need to take a shower," I instructed, glancing at their messy faces and stained clothes from the ice cream.

We headed home, the journey not taking too long since the park was nearby, just a 10minute drive. As we arrived, I guided them inside the house, urging them to go to their room while I took care of some things.

Entering my own room, I placed my handbag and phone on the bed before proceeding to their room to clean them up. "Come here," I beckoned, helping them remove their clothes before filling the tub with warm water. Bath time was always a joyful experience, witnessing their laughter and excitement.

"Mommy, bubbles!" Lindsey exclaimed with delight. I allowed them a few minutes to play with the bubbles, cherishing the sight of their enjoyment. The thought of not finding them today sent shivers down my spine. I would forever carry the weight of regret and selfblame had we been separated. They were my whole world, my only family by blood. I resolved to be more vigilant when taking them out, perhaps even bringing Riley along for added assistance.

"Alright, my loves, come over and let mommy rinse you off," I gently called them, swiftly completing their bath to prevent them from catching a cold. Wrapping them in towels, we left the bathroom, making our way to their room where I quickly prepared their pajamas.

"Mommy?" Finley called out, looking up at me.

"Yes, my love?"

"Hungry," he stated, prompting a chuckle to escape my lips.

"Mommy will make dinner for you after this. Come and put on your clothes," I said, ushering them to dress up.

After changing into fresh clothes, I made my way downstairs to prepare dinner. As the meal finished cooking, I called the twins to come down. "Take a seat, and let me put on your bibs to prevent any food from falling on your pajamas," I instructed. They obediently settled into their chairs. Watching them eat, their faces adorned with food, brought a smile to my lips as I joined them for a bite.

With the clock nearing ten, I announced, "Finley, Lindsey, it's time for bed now." I switched off the television in the living room and held their little hands as we ascended the stairs together.

"You both need a good night's sleep because tomorrow we're going to New York," I informed them as I settled them onto the bed.

"Mommy, can I ask something?" Finley spoke up. "What is it, Gab?" I replied, curious about his sudden question.

"Where's daddy? Kind uncle, is he Daddy?" Finley inquired, causing my eyebrows to raise in surprise.

"Why are you suddenly asking about that?" They had never shown any curiosity about their father before, making this the first time they mentioned him.

"I want Daddy. Daddy, be kind and buy ice cream," Lindsey added.

"Well, umm, your dad is someone who used to be in our lives, and no, you won't be seeing that 'kind' uncle ever again. It's not safe. We don't know him," I carefully explained, opting for a gentle tone despite my true feelings. I wished I could express how their father had been an unfaithful, arrogant, and insensitive man, but they were still too young to understand those harsh truths.

"Now, let's not talk about it and get some sleep. Sweet dreams," I said, kissing their foreheads before quietly leaving the room.

Cassandra

"Gab, Ella, wake up. We've arrived," I gently shake my children as we sit on the plane. After enduring a long flight, we have finally landed in New York.

"Mommy, where are we?" Lindsey asks, her eyes still drowsy, while Finley yawns and tries to fall back asleep. This is the first time the three of us have flown together, and it's going to be a challenge. "Gabby, please wake up. You can go back to sleep once we reach the hotel. Wake up," I coax him, but he ends up crying softly. Thankfully, it's not too loud.

"Miss, I'm sorry, but you need to disembark the plane," one of the flight attendants kindly informs me. "Alright, just give me a moment," I reply, lifting Finley and holding Lindsey's hand with my free hand. You can do this, Cassandra. You can handle it.

Thankfully, we have safely arrived at the hotel. My body aches from carrying Finley, even during the taxi ride. He sure loves his sleep, while Lindsey always seems to have a hearty appetite. Despite being twins, they have distinct personalities.

"Mommy, I'm hungry," Lindsey tugs at my dress. I look at her in disbelief. "Lindsey, you just ate like 20 minutes ago," I remind her, and she starts to whine. "Alright, alright.

Mommy will order room service." No matter what, I won't let my children go hungry. I call for room service to deliver some food, and shortly after, the meal arrives. Lindsey jumps with joy at the sight of the food.

I allow them to eat on their own since they prefer it that way. The last time I tried to feed them, they ended up sulking.

It's 6:15, and I have about fifteen minutes left before our driver arrives to take us to the launch. I'm feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. The nerves come from the fear that something might not go as planned during the event.

Taking a deep breath, I try to stay positive. "Everything will be fine," I reassure myself.

I'm already dressed in my outfit for the evening, and with one final touch, I remove my earrings. "Finley, Lindsey, come here," I call out to my children.

"Mommy, I'm not a present," Finley protests while pointing at his bow. I can't help but smile at his adorable frown. Finley looks so handsome in his little tuxedo, just like his father.

"But you look so handsome when you wear it. So, will you wear it?" I gently pinch his cheeks, and he nods in agreement. Once Finley is ready, I turn my attention to Lindsey, who has messy hair. "Ella, come here. I need to style your hair," I say, and she quickly runs over from the bed.

"Mommy, can you make my hair like a princess?" she requests, and I nod with a smile. I guide her to a chair and begin styling her hair. After a few minutes, her hair is neatly braided into a French braid. She looks absolutely adorable. Glancing at the time, I grab my purse.

"Let's go, kids. It's time to leave," I announce, and they excitedly rush out of the room. These children sure have an abundance of energy. I shake my head in amusement.

It takes just 10 minutes to reach my new boutique. As I step inside, I'm greeted by the bustling atmosphere of preparation and the presence of the models who will bring my designs to life. A smile naturally forms on my lips as I realize that my career is steadily growing. Tonight is going to be a busy night.

I realize that I should have brought Riley along to help take care of my babies. Unfortunately, I hadn't thought of it earlier. I quickly scan the room, searching for someone I can trust to look after Finley and Lindsey. I need to find someone soon before they start running around and make it difficult for me to focus. "Finley, Lindsey, come with me. Let's go," I call out to them, leading them to an available room, which happens to be the office. Perfect.

"Listen to me, please don't run around in this place. It's filled with lots of people, and you might get lost. It would make mommy so sad if that happened. Do you want to see mommy cry again?" I ask them, hoping they understand and behave just for tonight. They shake their heads, and I hope their determination holds true. Just then, the door opens, revealing my secretary. I had contacted her earlier, asking if she could take care of Finley and Lindsey, and I was relieved when she agreed.

"I apologize for burdening you with taking care of my kids tonight. I should have brought their nanny along, but it slipped my mind. I feel quite careless," I express to her, a tinge of guilt in my voice.

"It's fine, Ms. Walker. I can handle it. I used to take care of my niece, so I believe I can manage this. Please don't worry about them," she reassures me.

"I trust you, and don't worry, I'll increase your pay this month. I owe you one. I think I should go now," I say, appreciating her willingness to help, and she nods with a smile.

"To both of you, listen to her, alright? I'll be back as soon as I can. I love you both, and thank you again," I tell Finley and Lindsey before walking out of the office. I greet the people in attendance before the show begins. Making my way backstage, I see the models getting ready.

"Alright, everyone!" I call out, gathering their attention before the event starts. "I want all of you to give your best and good luck to everyone." With that, the models and staff disperse, finding their positions.

I glance at the audience, seeing the seats filling up, and my nerves kick in. When it's time, I walk out to make my entrance before the entire audience. Putting on a smile, I start delivering the speech that I've been practicing diligently for the past two days.

After a tiring and hectic show, I find myself exhausted from running around to ensure all the models are ready. "Where's the model for this design?" I inquired, but received a shake of the head from one of the models. Exiting the makeup room, I continue my search for the missing model.

In my haste, I accidentally collide with someone, sensing their presence through the fragrance of their cologne. "I'm sorry," I hurriedly apologize without looking at their face, my mind solely focused on finding the model. With that, I swiftly walk away without giving them a chance to respond. Though I believe it was a man due to the cologne, I can't be certain.

Finally, after a few minutes, my predicament is resolved. I find a seat and take a moment to catch my breath. I close my eyes for a brief second. "I need to check on the twins," I murmur to myself before rising to see how they're doing.

"Hey, kids," I greet them as they rush over to me. "Whoa, why the rush?" I inquire.

"We missed you, mommy. Where were you?" Lindsey pouts.

"I'm sorry, I was just caught up with everything earlier, but now I'm free. Besides, the event has concluded, and we can head back to the hotel in a few minutes." I look at Lindsey, then at Finley, who appears ready to fall asleep at any moment.

"Thank you, Hera. I know they can be quite energetic and challenging to manage," I express my gratitude.

"They're actually quite easy to take care of, especially Lindsey. Once she has food, she stays in one place and eats quietly. Finley, on the other hand, falls asleep for about 20 minutes, then wakes up crying, searching for you."

"I don't know how to thank you enough. I'm truly grateful, from the bottom of my heart."

"It's no problem at all. It's getting late, so I suggest you take them back to the hotel since they seem tired." I glance at my children, and indeed, they appear weary.

"Alright, I'll see you in LA then. Goodnight." With that, I lift the sleeping Finley from the couch and hold Lindsey's hand.

The event lasted approximately five hours, and now it's past midnight, 12:03. Despite my fatigue, I feel an overwhelming sense of joy and fulfillment as the event was a resounding success. It was worth every ounce of exhaustion I'm currently feeling.

Upon reaching the hotel, I gently place Finley on the bed, allowing him to continue his peaceful slumber. For Lindsey, I carefully change her clothes and cleanse her face, ensuring she's comfortable before bedtime. After taking a refreshing shower, I change Finley's clothes and put them on the bed.

Observing Lindsey, who is already sound asleep without any fuss, I realize just how exhausted they must be from the event. Tenderly kissing their foreheads, I settle myself for a restful sleep, grateful to have my precious children by my side.
