On the day of my engagement party during a festival, my fiancé Sam Woods did not show up.
At night, a strange fire broke out in the house and eight of my families died in the fire.
My mother was still breathing and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
The doctor said that the wound area was too large and needed artificial skin from Country A to save her life, but the hospital couldn't buy it.
Sam Woods is a wellconnected CEO.
I called him hundreds of times and he finally answered.
I cried and begged him to save my mother.
But he didn't believe it.
"Sam, it's so late, who's calling?" His childhood sweetheart's voice came from the other end of the line.
I lost my mind and yelled, "A scumbag and a bitch, better you both will be together forever!"
The next day, the hospital issued a notice of critical illness for my mother.
I had no choice but to call Sam Woods again.
"Sam, please, believe me, I really didn't lie to you. My mother is in a very crucial situation now, and only you can save her." I begged him heartbrokenly.
"Clara Meyer, it was my fault for not attending the engagement party, but you didn't have to put on such a show. I'll be back when I'm done with my work." He said coldly.
"Is Sophia Vega the only one in your heart? Am I your girlfriend or is she your girlfriend?" I roared angrily.
"As always, why can't you be more mature? Why do you have to argue about Sophia? Don't you know that she is in poor health and can't stand quarreling? She has fainted several times because of you. Don't you feel guilty?"
"She is pretending. Pretending! Why can't you see it?" I screamed hysterically.
"See, people with a dirty heart see everything as dirty." After saying that, he hung up the phone mercilessly.
Sam and I were in the same university. In our second year, he got a leg cramp in the deep water area of the sports hall's swimming pool. He was on the verge of life and death, then I found him and rescued him.
Then give him artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
He came back to life.
To thank me, he treated me to dinner and a movie.
We naturally came together.
It has been 5 years now.
We were very sweet in the first three years, until two years ago, when his childhood sweetheart Sophia Vega came back from abroad.
I remember it clearly, that day was my birthday. I made a reservation at a restaurant that he liked, bought a cake, and waited happily.
But he did not show up until the restaurant closed. He went to pick up Sophia Vega and then spent the whole night reminiscing about the past with her in the hotel room.
We had a big fight. He said I was unreasonable and petty.
Ever since Sophia showed up, we've often had quarrels and cold wars.
Once, Sophia pretended to stop our fight. I, in anger, scolded her badly and she pretended to faint. Sam slapped on me, that was the first time he hit me.
Before this, I thought that he didn't attend the engagement party because his company encountered some serious problems that needed to be solved, but I didn't expect it was because of Sophia Vega.
The second notice of critical illness came.
With trembling hands, I called Sam Woods.
"Sam, please, for the sake of the five years we have been together, please help me. I swear, I am not lying." I cried heartbreakingly.
"Take a picture of your mother and show it to me." He said in a low voice.
"She's in the operating room right now, how can I take a picture?" I cried, "If you don't believe me, I'll take a picture of the notice of critical illness for you."
I took a photo of the critical illness notice and sent it to him.
"Clara, do you think I can't tell this photo is edited? I've been fooled by you once, and I won't be fooled by you a second time."
Once, Sophia called him in the early morning and said that she was not feeling well, so he ran away immediately. I was so jealous, so I called him and said that I had a headache and asked him to come back immediately. After he came back, he took me to the hospital, and after a checkup, he found that I was fine, so he knew I was lying.
"Sam, please don't hang up. I did lie to you that time, but this time it's real. The fire killed eight people in my family, and my mother was the only one left. She is in the hospital hanging by a thread. She needs artificial skin from Country A to save her life. Please, I will do anything for you just to save my mother." I begged bitterly, trembling all over.
"Eight people were burned to death. Such a big thing, why wasn't it reported in the news? I don't want to listen to your poor acting skills anymore. Don't call me again." After saying that, he hung up the phone resolutely.
When I called again, the phone was turned off.
I knelt in the corridor of the emergency room, crying loudly.
Half an hour later, I saw that Sophia Vega posted a video on TikTok. The video was taken in a pet hospital, where Sam Woods accompanied her to treat her dog.
The caption: [My dear Doggie is being rescued. Friends, please pray for it to get through this. Followed by a string of crying emoticons.]
This video has tagged the location.
I turned on the location, confirmed the position and ran away.
There was a taxi right in front of the hospital, so I got in and told my destination.
After driving 5 kilometers, there was a traffic jam. It's 8 o'clock in the morning, rush hour for work
I was extremely anxious and felt like I was sitting on the thorns.
I open the car door and run towards the pet hospital.
On the way, I was nearly hit by a car.
I didn't stop even when I was running until I was almost suffocating.
I rushed into the pet hospital and I was out of breath.
Sophia was seen holding Doggie and said tearfully, "Sam, Doggie is dead. I don't want to live either."
Sam held her tightly in his arms and comforted her, "Don't say silly things, I will be sad."
He saw me and his eyes sparked with anger.
"Are you satisfied? Doggie is dead."
Doggie is a dog.
He took his anger out on me.
I was just about to speak when my cell phone rang. It was the hospital calling. I pressed the answer button with trembling hands.
"Ms. Clara, unfortunately, your mother didn't survive. Please come to the hospital to complete the administration immediately."
After hearing this, my eyes went dark, I knelt on the ground, and cried heartwrenchingly.
Sophia taunted, "Doggie doesn't even know you, why are you crying?"
"Don't worry about her, let's go!" They left the pet hospital.
Three days later.
I buried all my deceased family members in the family cemetery. In order to put them to rest sooner, I didn't have time to customize their tombstones.
When I turned around to leave, I saw Sam Woods and Sophia Vega appear not far away.
"Clara Meyer, stop." Sam still found me.
I ignored him and walked back, but he ran up and blocked my way.
"You're following me again?"
Last year, Sam had a high fever but still went to meet a client. I was worried that something might happen to him, so I followed him secretly, but was later discovered by him.
I explained it, but he felt that my behavior was stalking and disrespectful to him.
"Don't flatter yourself. I don't have time to follow you." I said coldly.
He showed an expression that said, "Why don't you repent?", then sighed and compromised, "Forget it, after all, I was also wrong for not attending the engagement party. You go home first, and I will be back early today."
"Go home?" I laughed. "Which home?"
My father died in a car accident when I was 7 years old, and now my mother is gone too. Where do I have a home?
"Of course it's our home." He said selfrighteously.
"That's your home, Sam Woods, not my home." After saying that, I turned around and left angrily.
He was stunned, wondering why I was so angry.
"Stop!" He rushed over and grabbed my wrist.
"Let go!" I shook my hand away harshly. His nails scratched my skin and blood oozed out.
He was shocked, his eyes panicked.
This was the first time I rebelled against him.
"Clara, is there really something wrong with your family? I'll arrange the best medical team right now. Artificial skin from Country A won't be a problem either."
I gritted my teeth and held back my tears.
"When I needed you, you refused to help me. Now that I don't need you anymore, you come and pretend to be a good man."
"Sam Woods, I want to break up with you."
After saying that, I walked away quickly without looking back.
Looking at my lonely figure, he immediately called his assistant.
"Timothy, immediately check whether Clara's family has been in the fire. If they need artificial skin from Country A, contact there to purchase it immediately."
When I walked all the way to the entrance of the village and was about to leave by minibus, I suddenly felt frightened and had a bad instinct through in my heart.
I decided to go back and take another look at the cemetery.
When I was about 100 meters away from the cemetery, I saw an excavator digging the cemetery.
Suddenly, my blood boiled and I roared, "What are you going to do..."
Rushing into the cemetery, I saw that 7 or 8 coffins had been dug out. The coffins were lying in all directions, and several urns had rolled to the side.
"Bastard, stop it!"
When I saw the excavator about to dig up my mother's grave, I rushed forward and opened my arms to stop it.
The excavator stopped.
"Who allowed you to dig here?" I shouted hysterically.
"I have already bought this land. It is my property. Why can't I dig it?" Sophia Vega said proudly.
This land has always been the cemetery of our Meyer family, but we only have the right to use it. I didn't expect that the village would sell this land to Sophia without telling me.
"I'm going to dig up all the graves here, and then build a big cemetery for my Doggie," Sophia said her plan.
I was shocked.
Build a cemetery for a dog.
They want to dig up all my ancestors and leave their bodies scattered all over the ground.
"Why are you standing there? Keep digging!" Sophia shouted to the excavator operator.
The excavator started again.
I threw myself on my mother's grave, "Sophia Vega, you must die so badly."
"Ms. Vega, what should I do?" the excavator operator asked in difficulty.
"Go on. I don't believe she won't get out of the way."
Sam rushed over and pulled me away.
"Are you going to die?" He scolded me. "It's not your family's grave, why are you protecting it so hard?"
"Let me go!" I screamed.
"No!" He grabbed my wrist tightly.
I bit his arm and he let go of my hand in pain. I rushed towards the excavator.
"Hold her down!" Sophia shouted.
Two workers jumped out and knocked me to the ground, one of them pressed his knees on my back, and the other held my head with both hands.
"Let me go, you beasts and bastard." I roared.
"Clara, I built a cemetery for Doggie and you came to destroy it. You are so vicious." Sophia turned the tables.
"Clara, what's wrong with you? Why are you always picking on Sophia? You're already my fiancée, what are you still fighting for?" Sam looked as if he was disappointed in Clara.
"You all will die a horrible death!" I cursed.
Sophia was so angry that her face turned red. She looked at the workers, and the two workers pressed my head into the wet mud.
My mother's grave was still dug up, the coffin was broken into pieces, the urn rolled over, and the ashes were scattered all over the ground, mixing with the wet soil.
When I saw this scene, my eyes were bloodshot and I bit my lips until they bled.
"Mom..."
I screamed...
Sam was shocked and immediately let the two workers go.
I rushed towards the ashes, trying to peel them off from the soil, but it was no use. I had no choice but to put the soil and ashes into the urn together.
"Clara, this...is this your mother's ashes?" Sam asked in shock.
"Sam, she is just acting. In order to embarrass me, she doesn't hesitate to recognize any mother. She is so despicable and shameless." Sophia said sarcastically.
"Clara, you've gone too far. Since you can recognize anyone as your mother randomly, there is no need for me to care about your family's affairs." After saying that, Sam took out his mobile phone and called Timothy.
"Timothy, there is no need to investigate whether there was a fire in Clara's house, and there is no need to contact Country A to buy artificial skin."
Timothy on the other end hesitated for a moment and then said, "Mr. Sam, I just found out that there was indeed a fire in Ms. Clara's house. Eight people died in the fire. Ms. Clara's mother was sent to the hospital for rescue, but later died. The fire happened on the day of your engagement."
"What?" Sam was dumbfounded.
